REVIEWS:

Rick reviewed "American Born Chinese" on Disney Plus is an 8-episode teen
comedy-action series that does involve some powerful figures from Chinese
myth, one of whom is portrayed by Michelle Yeoh. He rates it as very good
stuff that is worth streaming charges & he has no idea if there will be a
2nd season.

Yochanan reviewed 'Crater' - seen on Disney Plus - as a young adult show
with some interesting set pieces & inconsistently applied rules of
gravity. He rates it as C+ to B-, decent but not great. Gerry followed,
commenting about low gravity research which shows that, when not wearing a
spacesuit, folks under low gravity move very similar to the way they would
move normally on Earth & that the jouncy/bouncy movement shown is caused by
inflexibility of the suits
Gerry added a link on information from Dava Newmann, former deputy
director for NASA, longtime spacesuit researcher. See =

and later Yochanan reviewed Guillermo del Toro's 'Cabinet of
Curiosities' that he saw on Netflix, as 8 different horror stories
presented as a series, done somewhat akin to 'Twilight Zone' or 'Night
Gallery'. He liked it but did not love it, finding some of it very gross,
too intense & in your face. See =

and then Yochanan reviewed '10 Cloverfield Lane', the movie from
2016 as a possible post-apocalyptic mostly one-room thriller. He found it
very effective in giving the movie a claustrophobic feel & found it mostly
well done. He also liked, but did not love the movie.

Sandra reviewed 'Vesper' on Netflix, saying it had a lot of delicate
world-building & was quite good. See =

Kennita reviewed the 'Little Mermaid' remake as quite enjoyable with good
actin. She felt the new plot points added to the movie were done well.
She saw the movie in 3D & very much enjoyed the undersea scenes shown in 3D
that way & felt it worth the higher 3D matinee price she paid.
Yochanan followed, saying that he also liked it a lot, but was
bothered by how Flounder looked like a dead, stuffed & mounted fish.
[[With Trey asking if Flounder was not done in an 'animated fashion']]

Ken reviewed a Swiss crowd-funded movie called 'Mad Heidi' as it stole from
the best of the 1970's exploitation films. The plot has fascist
cheese-mongers ruling the land in a dystopian future setting & he felt it
was a good cheesy story of revenge.
       “Mad Heidi” A crowd-funded Swiss-ploitation film from 2022, filmed
in Switzerland. It will be making a one-night-only Fathom screening later
this month.

Gayle reviewed getting her computer keyboard repaired as done in a same-day
service. She is quite pleased with the results, done by Clevertech in San
Jose. Their phone # = 408-316-7600

and Gayle reviewed the Met Live performance of 'The Magic Flute' by
Mozart as the production was meant to call forth historically accurate
staging as would have been done in Mozart's time. She found it to be just
wonderful & plans to return and view it again later this month.
Met Live in HD, the Magic Flute (Die Zauberflote)
Encore performances 1 pm and 6:30 pm in some theaters. $25.00 for seniors
(buy in person) or on line

we adjourned at 8:41pm

and the rumor of the week was = 'Watch out, you are one radioactive pun
away from entering the BASFA-verse'
