The Jewish New Year (rosh ha shanah, רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה, lit. "head of the year") for year 5782 started at sundown this past Monday, and ended at sundown today, observed for two days, the first of the High Holidays aka Yamim Noraim ("Days of Awe"), observed over the ten days before Yom Kippur.
