Hi folks. I was just reminded that Labor Day is the weekend when the Scottish Highland Gathering & Games takes places at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton. If I had remembered, I would have mentioned it at the BASFA meeting last Monday. I know there are a few folks out there who aficionadoes of Celtic culture. For those of you who are wondering, this is similar to SF conventions, except the focus is on all things Scottish, with a little English, Irish and Welsh stuff thrown in. It has five buildings of hucksters, athletes toss a few cabres, dogs shepard a few geese, clans look for other family members, there's some historic recreation, they have some UK cuisine food vendors and some fun other stuff. A couple of times I've even found Diana Gabaldon (and other authors) there signing books. I'll be going on Saturday to do some gift shopping. I would love to see some familiar faces there.
