I did the mtx command, and it worked perfectly:
root@backup:~# mtx -f /dev/sch0 status
  Storage Changer /dev/sch0:1 Drives, 8 Slots ( 0 Import/Export ) Data 
Transfer Element 0:Empty
      Storage Element 1:Full :VolumeTag=DBW501L5
      Storage Element 2:Full :VolumeTag=DBW502L5

      Storage Element 7:Empty
      Storage Element 8:Empty
