No offence meant to you personally, but IMHO, FOSS is always about scratching one's itch. Probably the reason that OpenStreetMap does not have this feature is that no one has had this particular itch badly enough. I emphasise again that I mean no offence towards you in particular, but it is always easier to find work for other people. May I turn your question around, and ask *you* why do you not implement that, and release it as FOSS?
