But ... that's painfully slow even compared to the LTO-4 drive I just gave up on, which writes at up to twice that. And none of my Unix systems are new enough to have USB3, making the speed comparison even worse. I think actually the way I'm going to go here is to continue my interim workaround of *performing* full backups to my NAS, but then immediately migrate the volume files off to hot-swap SATA disks along with a fresh post-full-backup DB dump. Spinning rust for now, SSDs later when prices come down a bit more.
