Normally none of that should be necessary. Just assign them to the new pool with the "update volume" command. If the data on the tapes is expired then a prune should be enough to set the tapes' status to "purged". Even that is done automatically when Bacula looks for usable tapes. The mtx overwrite procedure is only needed when you want to relabel tapes that have a Bacula label but are not listed in your catalog, for example because they come from another Bacula system.
