I filed a bug some time back about the OS bundled version being so far 
out of date. The excuse given was that it's inherited directly from 
Debian upstream.

Supposedly it's being looked into but there is reluctance to update the 
build outside the Debian stream or within a LTS release.

A formal statement from bacula.org that older versions are not 
supported/recommended would go a long way to speeing things up.
