Right, that's vchanger. In the tape world there's a jukebox with tapes in "slots" and a robot arm that moves them to/from the tape drive(s). Some of them had more than one "magazine" of "slots". So when you map that to files & removable drives, "tape" = "slot" = "disk file", "magazine" = "disk drive", "tape in the drive" = "file currently written to". There are practical issues with using full-disk files in practice. Especially when they are 4TB files.
