Hi All, First off, I should mention that I have spent days trawling the internet for answers, including right here at backup central. I have managed to fix many of the issue I'd been having along the way, but now... now I've really hit a brick wall.
so, I'm fairly new to *nix of any flavour, but I'm hopefully past the stage of being a casual web ubuntu user. I have set up a CentOS 5.5 box, and installed Bacula from rpms. There were a whole host of teething troubles, but I eventually got thos solved. I'm now at the stage where I have a bacula-dir.conf file which contains a few include statements, to keep it tidy, and that 'bat' runs fine in gnome. I can see the jobs I have created, for the most part I can see pools also. for a while, I was completely baffled as to why the log file was empty. I *think* I've worked aroung that issue now. It seems that one of the daemons didn't have write access on the log file. I fixed this in a very poor fashion (for testing) with chmod 777. so, now that I have a log file which gets populated (eventually - normall on cancelling a job). My core issue is that when I run a job, it says it's running, but doesn't actually do anything. The files and bytes counts stay at zero - both in bconsole, and bat. I have set my FileStorage location to be /backups/bacula. This directory remaind empty! I have also chmod'd the backup and bacula directories, incase that was the issue. the windows server is called scorpion, and the fd is scorpion-fd. the bacula centos server is called viper. so, now for the configs & logs: Log file: <snip> 24-Feb 15:02 viper-dir JobId 3: Start Backup JobId 3, Job=scorpiontest.2011-02-2 4_15.02.51_08 24-Feb 15:02 viper-dir JobId 3: Using Device "FileStorage" 24-Feb 15:03 scorpion-fd JobId 3: Warning: /home/kern/bacula/k/bacula/src/lib/bs ock.c:128 Could not connect to Storage daemon on viper.oleo.co.uk:9103. Any help you can give me on this would be great - lots of hair pulling has been going on, and I've petty much run out of google power! If there's anything else you need to see in the way of outputs or files, just let me know. Thanks Adam p.s. I should also say that I've used the following method a fed times to 'reset' the bacula system: stop bacula drop_mysql_tables make_mysql_tables clear out /var/lib/bacula (except for the log file - re permissions issue) start bacula +---------------------------------------------------------------------- |This was sent by adam_sc...@btinternet.com via Backup Central. |Forward SPAM to ab...@backupcentral.com. +---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Free Software Download: Index, Search & Analyze Logs and other IT data in Real-Time with Splunk.
