Now I'm not in the office, but during the boot I don't remember if the controller display information otherwise than RAID device that is configured. I think that it doesn't do it. In fact, the unique interface that I could see that it has is ORCA (Option ROM Configuration for Arrays). Last week I spoke with HP support. They confirmed that, indeed, it is the only interface that the controller has, and devices that are connected via SAS cable should be detected automatically without requiring any configuration. Also I commented to them that I was using the controller in a PC instead of in a HP server and they told me that it could be the cause of not creating the devices in the operating system, suggesting to use the controller in a G4 server or superior. What I find strange is that despite not create the nodes, the card is recognized by the operating system. I will talk again with the HP provider to send us the riser card needed to use the controller with the G6 servers that we purchased and then I will try if of this form it works.
