The reason is this is the correct time to write an entire tape. Also in no way should 86GB take 3 hours. To me this sounds like the tape or the tape drive is the problem. But it may also be related to the scsi bus.

I would do a dd test with the drive something like the ones in this thread: http://www.nabble.com/LTO-4-performance--td17407840.html > Wrote blk_block=1320000, dev_blk_num=8000 VolBytes=84,896,759,808 > rate=8684.2 KB/s > Wrote blk_block=1325000, dev_blk_num=13000 VolBytes=85,219,319,808 > rate=8693.2 KB/s > Wrote blk_block=1330000, dev_blk_num=2500 VolBytes=85,541,879,808 > rate=8696.8 KB/s > Wrote blk_block=1335000, dev_blk_num=7500 VolBytes=85,864,439,808 > rate=8695.1 KB/s > Wrote blk_block=1340000, dev_blk_num=12500 VolBytes=86,186,999,808 > rate=8690.0 KB/s > 14:24:32 Flush block, write EOF > Wrote blk_block=1345000, dev_blk_num=1000 VolBytes=86,509,559,808 > rate=8677.9 KB/s > 12-Jan 14:24 btape JobId 0: End of Volume "TestVolume1" at 126:2437 on > device "TapeStorage" (/dev/nst0).
