Happy new year, to start with.. Took some time to get back to the tape problems, is not the only one we are having :( (enough to do here..)
But, checked cables, inserted the scsi controller card in an full PCI- X slot, and rerun the btape after reconfig to use /dev/nst0.. test command doesn't show any problems. Tried fill with multiple tapes, and after about three hours, it ends with the following: 14:20:43 Flush block, write EOF Wrote blk_block=1315000, dev_blk_num=3000 VolBytes=84,574,199,808 rate=8675.2 KB/s Wrote blk_block=1320000, dev_blk_num=8000 VolBytes=84,896,759,808 rate=8684.2 KB/s Wrote blk_block=1325000, dev_blk_num=13000 VolBytes=85,219,319,808 rate=8693.2 KB/s Wrote blk_block=1330000, dev_blk_num=2500 VolBytes=85,541,879,808 rate=8696.8 KB/s Wrote blk_block=1335000, dev_blk_num=7500 VolBytes=85,864,439,808 rate=8695.1 KB/s Wrote blk_block=1340000, dev_blk_num=12500 VolBytes=86,186,999,808 rate=8690.0 KB/s 14:24:32 Flush block, write EOF Wrote blk_block=1345000, dev_blk_num=1000 VolBytes=86,509,559,808 rate=8677.9 KB/s 12-Jan 14:24 btape JobId 0: End of Volume "TestVolume1" at 126:2437 on device "TapeStorage" (/dev/nst0). Write of 64512 bytes got -1. 12-Jan 14:25 btape JobId 0: Re-read of last block succeeded. btape: btape.c:2349 Last block at: 126:2436 this_dev_block_num=2437 btape: btape.c:2383 End of tape 126:0. Mount blank Volume on device "TapeStorage" (/dev/nst0) and press return when ready: So, again about 86 GB on the tape.. After some tape juggling got following message: The last block on the second tape matches. Test succeeded. So test is successful, but not full tape usage as I was hoping for.
