Juche,

I am reading through bacula documentation at the moment. And I have some
doubst about what I understood, I culd test ist out, which would take
quite some time, or I can ask you, maybe someone knows the answer
without testing.

Q1:
As far as I understood, Bacula starts to Prune Volumes only if there is
no volume in the Pool that is still Appendable.

If a tape had a Status of full, and some jobs JobRetention on that tape
is expired, the Job will be deleted from the CatalogDB. Does this also
mean, that the tape will renter status Append?

If so, the space freed by the expired job will be filled by one of the
next backups, doesn't that leed to heavily fragmented Backups?

Q2:
I read, that after I have deleted all FileData from the CatalogDB, I can
still restore a Job If I still have the JobData in the CatalogDB. I can
only restore all files at once.
Will this still restore the User information and Access rights of each file?

Q3:
I am just curious, what is the status of a volume after Recycle?

I am sure there will be more Questions, the functionality of Bacula is
really complex, but very powerful. I like it.

Hannes
