Same problem here :-(
I already posted to bacula-devel list...

For a quick workaround, before a better solution: try downloading 2.2.7
binary rpms for Fedora 7 from Sourceforge, I got them working on Fedora 8.
But anything (2.2.7 or 2.2.8) built on Fedora 8 seems to crash the same way.
So, don't download a source rpm and build by yourself on F8, it leads to 
crash.
