I don't believe anyone in this conversation was asking for specific 
database support to be implemented for free.  The discussion was 
started by someone who seems genuinely interested in implementing 
some additional support himself, as you did with PostgreSQL. This is 
worth encouraging. Nobody was saying that Bacula absolutely needs 
support for additional databases, just that it is possible and 
valuable for certain classes of users.

No, but if moved to the bacula-devel list, experience could be shared 
regarding the steps necessary to implement support for a new 
database.  It seems very much like those who are willing to spend the 
time don't quite know where to start.
