Erm... I need one clarification: Do we talk about other databases for the Bacula catalog, or do we talk about saving database contents? The former is definitely something to discuss on the -devel list. You will probably read that it's possible, requires serious work, but can be done. PostreSQL was added later, as far as I know, than MySQL support, and mostly implemented by a single developer (Dan Langille). The latter is simple with database dumps, more difficult if you want incremental backups using transaction logs, and sophisticated things like dumps or even incremental dumps to a FIFO are possible, but, indeed, sophisticated :-) Development of a MS exchange backup agent is done by one single developer at the moment, but it looks like there is some progress... see the thread "pre-alpha of exchange agent...".
