Take a look at the SSH tunnel scripts in the docs.  You can initiate an SSH 
tunnel before the job starts, and then then connect over that tunnel to the 
client, or have the client intiate a tunnel back to the storage director, and 
then connect over that tunnel.  I've done it. Works great.  And my situation 
was similar to your: no control over the firewall.
