Well, that might be true. > Arno: have you write permissions for the doc repo? I'm not sure... I guess it's possible, but I haven't even accessed the source since the change to subversion... I'd have to learn how to use svn first :-) > ps: i would also prefer a feature 'data cloning'* for offsite storage, So would I. > but my > timeframe and my rudimental programming skills in c isn't professional > enought for projects like this one. The same here. Anyway, Kern has told me he will (most probably) work on that some time, but it's not one of the high priority things. According to Kern, much of the needed functionality already exists inside Bacula, and there's even some sort of a rough outline of how job cloning should work, but the whole project is still far from being implemented. > *) in the moment i make my mirroring to disk with rsync and a 10 time > hardlink > rotation routine and one time per week i transfer the last one of my mirror > sets to tape. I would find it much better if bacula can do the whole job. Personally, I'd do things differently: Backup to disk using Bacula, and rsync the (important) volume files to another machine or write them to tape using tar or something. But that is probably a matter of taste and where you prefer Bacula volume management capabilities: Athe the front-end backup setup, or for your tapes. It would be definitely an advantage if Bacula could handle all this...
