I've had it happen 700Gb into 1Tb backups.

There's a few good reasons to keep backup sizes down to reasonable levels, 
not least of which is run time.

It's possible, but the probability of a sucessful restore from such a 
"resumed" job is extremely low.

Better to flush the tapes and reuse them if you can. If not, then add more 
tapes to the pool for breathing space.
