Hi Alan Sorry about recalling this subject. I believe that in if understand this correctly I might be able to help too other people. You say, about the "update slots" command , «assuming the drive is empty AND there is nothing actively attempting to using the drive ». The "update slots" command its not save because in order to bacula know which tape is in the slots, it needs to load all the tapes on the drive in order to read their labels, right? If so, and saying that my tape loader can read barcodes and bacula is using them to label the tapes, can i say that in this case its safe even though its not the recommended way to do it?
