I'm trying to build Bacula rpm packages with Python support, on
FC5, from bacula-1.38.11-3.src.rpm source package.

I found the following from the newest documentation for the
released version, 1.38.11 (24 July 2006):

Build python scripting support:
--define "build_python 1"

A one month older 1.38.11 (28 June 2006) pdf file doesn't
mention this option, nor does release notes on SourceForge,
although there are some other options (wx-console etc) listed.

While running the build, I shortly saw some list of compiled options,
one of them saying 'no' for Python support. In addition to this, a
package built with "build_python 1" is of practically same size
compared to a package without Python support (only ~100 bytes
difference, which propably is due to other reasons)

I don't understand a lot about rpm spec files, but after a quick
look during the build process, I saw there nothing related to that option.

So, the question: Does 1.38.11-3 source rpm really contain
support for the build_python option, or has that just been added to
the documentation in advance while preparing to future releases?
And if it isn't there, is it within reasonable limits to expect a newly
released package -this would require only the source package to
be updated, not the binaries.

Regards,
Timo
