Sqlite isn't recommended for production? I have never heard this before.
I like it because it is simple and secure. I guess I will try MySQL.

I have run hdparm and bonnie++ on my storage and I got very good
numbers. There is no ethernet involved here as I am backing up a local
system. Besides, iostat says we are doing a lot more disk IO to the
database than the amount of data we are actually backing up. That makes
no sense and would not indicate a disk storage problem or ethernet problem.
