I have ready through all of the mail archives about autochanger
problems, but am still beating my head against an autochanger
problem.
I just found that everything works fine if I manually run an
"update slots" in a console as the first thing I do after
running starting the Bacula daemons. How do I get it to
do this automatically on startup?
Normally you shouldn't need to run this on every startup, only if tapes
change positions in your autochanger (ie if you load/unload some or
shuffle them around). Bacula relies on the 'Slot' field in its database
to know where a tape is in the loader. If that slot field is empty, it
will prompt you for the tape. If it contains the wrong slot number it
will probably load the wrong tape and then complain (and fail in some
way). The 'update slots' command does nothing else than scan your
autochanger and put the received slot numbers into the database.
Greetings,
Michel
