Thanks for your help Wolfgang but as it seems, the solution was much simpler.
I did the tests with our "backup" tape-library and they worked fine. Ok, tape drive broken, I changed them and it works. I dunno why but I threw a cleaning tape into the new library just to clean the head before the weekend and thought about the old (replaced) library. The library has 6 slots, one of them holds a cleaning tape and the library is configured to clean itself whenever it needs it. Mmmmmh, doesn't seem to have worked. I cleaned the replaced tapedrive and *BINGO* works again. Right, time to check the automagic cleaning thingy ;) Greetings and a nice weekend to all of you.
