I posted my config files on a previous mail.
The strange fact is that this happens on some days only.
For two days everything worked fine, then sometimes this happens.
Please have a look at my files, and suggest what I should do.

What I need is to have 5 tapes labeled for the 5 days (mon, tue, wed, thu, fri).
If I put the correct tape on the correct day, bacula should never complain, and start
reusing the tape from scratch (mark it recyclable and overwrite it). Never use incremental.

I think I started from the wrong example to implement my backup config.
I used an example on the pdf documentation.

Thanx for any help.
Gabriele.

Unfortunately, the inormation you can give is probably not enough to
determine the reasone for that behaviour.

It There seem to be two problems you have. First one, in my opinion, is
that you use a too complicated volume management. (At least for me - I
wouldn't want to handle pools for each weekday.)

Second, there *might* be some problems with your tapes, drive, or even
the SD. To analyze this, I would suggest to set up a test scenarion -
only use one pool, two tapes, no scheduled jobs at first. Run director
and SD with debug output, and try to follow their actions when a tape is
requested, what happens when the SD mounts a tape, and see if the SD can
read that tape.

(I assume you did run the complete btape test suite...)

obviously because the tape was consiered Used. this means that your
retention times don't work as you want them, which usually indicates you
set it up incorrectly, didn't understand what you set up, or didn't
update the existing volume information in the catalog after a change to
the pool defaults.
