Yes, it is possible that Bacula developement could be affected by patents, but 
unlikely IMO.  I don't see much in Bacula that is not prior art, and hence 
there isn't much that could be attacked for a patent violation.  Patents have 
existed a long time in the US and so far, they have not created a lot of 
problems for open source. That doesn't mean I am for patents or that they 
won't create problems for Open Source or Bacula. 

Most people/companies that attack for IP and Patents want money, and there 
just isn't any to pull out of Bacula.  Anyway, if someone has a legitimate 
patent complaint, I suppose our ultimate defense is simply to remove the 
offending code.
