I tend to agree. I ran your little script with /bin/sh and /bin/ksh
on Solaris, DU 4.0F, IRIX 6.3, and with bash 1.14.7/2.04 on these
platforms, and the bash results stand liek a beacon ... heck, even
the HP-UX 9.0x shells get it right (a real surprise :). Linux ksh
(== pdksh IIRC) is correct, too.
