This argument does not hold water. The decision (if significant)
should be made based on the usefulness the capability provides to its
users vs the cost of including the capability.
If support for bounded pointers is added to Autoconf, certainly
support should also be added to support compiler profiling options,
which are also not weird or unusual capabilities. I had to explicitly
add support for this to my package's configure script.
