I agree that this is not as bad as making a configure argument be treated as --host. But even this change is not fully backward compatible, as the old instructions for building gcc with a cross-compiler were something like `configure --build=BUILD HOST'. I think it has been long enough since config.guess was introduced that this need not be an issue. Ian
