dear friends

Let us not compare arr 90's with 2000+, reasons are as below,

1990-  1995 - ARR is CITY STAR (popular in chennai) for chennaities kadalan,
bombay, tiruda..
1995 - 2000 - ARR is TAMIL STAR (popular in tamilnadu) for giving movies like
karuthamma,tajmahal, padayappa, sangamam..
2000 - 2005 - ARR is INDIAN STAR (popular in india) for giving movies like RDB,
ALAIPAYUTHE, LAGAAN, MANGAL PANDEY,...
2005 - 2010 - ARR is GLOBAL STAR (popular in hollywood) for giving movies like
SDM, ENTHIRAN, VTV, RAVAN..
2010-2015 ARR will be the UNIVERSAL STAR  (popular in world),,,for giving
movies like xxx, xxxxxxxx,....(names censored)

hope u all agree with ARR/s growth, let us proud of him being indian ...

regards
guru

point taken. my reply was mostly driven by the following  statement

"nowday wat am i hearing always is rahman busy wit concerts, rahman busy with
his international commitments...it really makes me sick...wat do i as a fan of
his get till now...wat international commitments have made him
today...nothing...."

I didn't think it was constructive criticism at all.
I agree that a brutal fan base could contribute to the artists's growth but
the above and few of the other mails that have been circulating these days
contains comments like "his music has been crap since 2000. anyone who likes
his music in recent times (except for Delhi 6)  is lying to himself" etc.
that's unwarranted and unnecessary. Not liking an album is fine (I don't like
Endhiran- not my cup of tea) but trying to impose that view on everyone else in
this group and also implying that people who think otherwise are being
dishonest isn't healthy and is in no comparison to the Metallica analogy.
Demanding better sound quality of an album and outrightly stating that whatever
that's been churned out in the last 10 years is rubbish are two different
things. Because if it's been that long, then I guess you may no longer be a fan
of his music because at the end of the day change is the only constant thing in
the world. And music is no exception to
 that.

I have a big point to make but first...

Listen to this story.

When Mettalica released their album Death metalic, few sections of the devoted
fans blasted the sound quality. While most of them loved the album in it
totality. The minority of fans who disliked the album found another strange
thing.

Few select tracks from the album were included in the popular console game
guitar hero and the versions in guitar hero was far more clear as against the
heavily compressed and noisy tracks in the CD.

Soon, the fans made such a noise that they forced the recording company to send
the entire album for re-mastering. The minority of fans who started the noise
that the album sucks, became a potent force for metallica band to relook at the
way their albums are recorded and engineered.

I know the whole story and its very interesing on how few fans, moved the
metallica band and their recording company. But thats for later.

To me...this is the true fan base. This what an accomplished artist requires. A
brutal fan base, which does not dilute reviews and certianly does not worship
everything thats churned out.

We as Rahman fan group are evolving and we will get there in terms of maturity.
As such, already we together comprise the most intelligent and organised fan
group any indian artist has.

So lets give people some room to be critical and even harsh at times. No
problem. Not liking an song or album is as normal as liking.
you gotta be kidding if you say, i like all of rahman's tracks. Even he himself
may not be liking all!

Shai,

is this the same guy who thought Raavan was a "my god" album! You even said
that it was better than VTV and a masterpiece. What happened? And don't worry,
Mani Ratnam is not going Harris Jeyeraj's way. And to answer your question

"wat international commitments have made him today...nothing..."

Have you forgotten the "international commitment" that brought AR two
significant Oscars along with many other reputed music awards bestowed on an
Indian for the first time! Come on Shai. Please try not to use phrases like "
it makes me sic". AR is not our property. He is not our slave for him to do
"something for us because we are his fans". He should be and is a slave to
music and only music-that's why we are here.  I think he deserves respect for
that and enjoy what we can. Not all his albums may please you but remember that
it pleases someone else out there. That's life. "Like a box of chocolates! "

hey bro,

i agree wit ur comments...very true....its more to his brand name now....if
endhiran doesnt have the line music by ar rahman i wouldnt have listned to
it....only bcoz i believe that song compose by arrahman should be good making
me to like the music a little more..thats all....

i wouldnt be surprise if shankar go on to work with harris jayaraj after this
bcoz.nowday wat am i hearing always is rahman busy wit concerts, rahman busy
with his international commitments...it really makes me sick...wat do i as a
fan of his get till now...wat international commitments have made him
today...nothing....do we really want to listen to english songs from an english
movie which will not be like tamil or hindi songs that are so so soulful...

rahman's success today is bcoz of his 90's songs...people are always talking
about his 90's songs...but i now that delhi 6 is very very good...but in the
90's we get 3 or 4 delhi 6 standard of an album each year.....

now he is busy with concerts...those who attended his concert will get the
chance to see him and listen to his best songs...but this year he hasnt signed
any movies so far....why?there are millions that couldnt go for his concert, wat
will they get?

i m enjoying endhiran{stand alone} but do u think its an album for a movie
worth 120 million crores.....i dun think so..sivaji was perfect...nobody
complained...if we compare endhiran wit previous shankar's albums ,wat do u
feel...?mukalla muqabla song from the movie kadhalan was fantastic music at
that time even now...the song is great enough to make people love him...but
irumbile oru idhayam is indeed just a good song but we only liked it after
listening many times why?thats the psychology...listening to a song for 10 days
will make u like the song bcoz u are listening to like the song and not
listening to a song that u like...its different...

*90's = his music took him to reach greater heights

*today = he is taking his music to reach greater heights.....think carefully
which one do prefer...

guys ...please understand ,im writing this as my personal oppinion...u can
share ur views about it or even advise me if i m wrong...but dun be stupid by
bashing me ....i m one of u who love to see arrahman get to reach greater
heights by producing soulful songs...not soulful sound.....please forgive me if
my comments hurt u guys.....sincerely....

i dont one to see one day mani ratnam's upcoming movie's music is composed by
harris jayaraj...{his music is soulful, cheaper, faster and he has no concerts or
international commitments to make directors wait for million years for his
music)

Hi friends,

The Rahman today is more dependent on his brand name than on the strength of
his music
or his tunes may be with the exception of a  VTV or a RAVAN cos when i was
listening to
Endiran ( it was really a good album) but the fact was the music arrangement
was not anything we could associate with Rahman. I was listening to Endiran as
it was composed
by Rahman only and if it had been by any other composer the critics would hav
shred
it to pieces.

I understand that Rahman is busy with his international assignments and he his
taking up
tamil projects as they are forced on him.

Dear sir don't take up any tamil projects and if you do,  we need nothing short
of a RAHMAN  ALBUM meeting all the criteria associated with you.I feel this is
something you could do to your dear old TAMIL FANS.

The main point i would like to make is that Rahman's music should be enjoyed by
EVERYONE and not just people would understand the finer aspects of Rahman's
music
which is what is  happening right now as more and more people get alienated
from our Oscar winner. Remember even Buddha's teaching could not have got the
due acceptance
if it had been so complex.

I feel someone could take up this matter with boss, not as a compliant but as a
general
media feedback.

regards
Krishna
