I came to know about this instrument only recently. This has got a Y and X axis 
to play sound, in itself it can't produce sounds hence needs a source, has 
velocity keys effect. The reason Rahman got interested probably is that it is 
possible to play nuances of Indian classical music like shruti on this, plus he 
loves to keep abreast of the new developments. While earlier it has been 
possible to use pitch bender on keyboards to play shruti, this is more accurate.
