Even in 2006/2007 ARR Sir has given us some melodious masterpieces like "Lukka Chupi", "Shauk Hain", "Tere Bina" etc etc. This year we had some songs like "Maarudani", "Jashn Bahara", "In Lamhon" etc etc which leaves some momentary satisfaction, some sensuous fragrance, but that's all. We must admit that not all good songs are MASTERPIECES, some of the good songs are regarded as MASTERPIECES, which ARR sir produced many a times. I think,we rather than criticizing we shud try to understand that while ROJA was made ARR was a no one, also no other film assignments were with him.He got ample time to sit with himself, used to get his own room for thought which is very crucial for outcome of a masterpiece. And the outcome was a history. Almost the same happened with BOMBAY, TAAL, THIRUDA THIRUDA, IRUVAR etc etc. But, in between almost 15 years have passed, he has become the heart of the nation, has grown up to a legend from a child prodigy. Wherever he goes, whatever he does becomes a news now.TV channels want him to judge their show, corporate houses want him to endorse their product, news channels want an exclusive interview from him!!! Although unlike other artistes he has astonishingly maintained his simplicity, humility, respect to others & has been far away from controversy. ...he has become much busier than ever. Also if at a time directors like Asutosh-Mani- Subhash Ghai-Aamir-Shyam Benegal- kamal hassan-Shankar all request him to compose for their movie whom he shud reject? I think this has been the problem with him. After all composing music is a creative workflow not a man-machine factory job. Still, amidst this busy schedule he could produce grand scores for Jodha Akbar BGMs, which I think his one of the finest jobs. Also, he produced "Warriors of Heaven & earth" which is simply awasome in grandeur. Not to forget RDB. It's BGM was something out of the world. But, in 2008 this scene seems a bit grey to me. It's not that he hadn't used programmed beat earlier. Lots of example sare there. just think abt "Rangila Re", "Tanha Tanha", "Chandralekha" which were mostly sequenced by ARR sir himself. All these songs were on known taals, but the application & approach was different. This is the signature of Rahman. He can mould a simple thing be packed as an awasome gift. There used to have surprises in every second, every loops of his songs. Somewhere, this magic seems to be missing to sum extent. "Guzarish" from GHAZINI is also having the same trend of using a simple synthesized sound without any variation. I think, this will also be followed by RAVANA songs, as I have heard 5 songs were finalised in a single day. I wl be the happiest if I'm proved wrong. Anyways..... keep discussing.. .......Thr is no harm in healthy discussion on music. Recent Activity 51 New Members Visit Your Group New business? Get new customers. List your web site in Yahoo!
