How did this album eventually go down? I remember that when it first
came out, it was not well received by reviewers, claiming it lacked
soul, etc. I personally was a bit taken aback by the heavy techno
nature of the music but I can say with confidence now that it was a
bold effort by Mani and Rahman with new ground treaded. My favorite
song of that album is Khuda Hafiz/Goodbye Nanba and it remains one of
my all time favorite Rahman songs for many reasons. It's sheer genius
with panache, punch, style, hooks, melody, you name it. I'm still
blown away by the middle jazz interlude......it's so genius I just
burst out laughing at what a crazy and brilliant idea that was to put
a jazz interlude within a techno song! Wow!
