SD-based does work in rpi4, there are some advantages to USB-based but it
should be fairly acceptable if you're not doing much disk io. USB ports
work (as well as USB works on OpenBSD). Network is pretty fast though
some (but not all) people using it with vlans have had poor latency.
The framebuffer on HDMI ports works for console and X. There are better
machines but it seems to me that most of them involve more hackery,
and some of the others use "big/little" cpu cores which the scheduler
doesn't do anything special to support which might be a problem in some
cases.
