Hi list,

I've 2 machines with (quite) the same setup; one had an electrical shock which killed the on-board sound card (both have a via82xx embedded soundcard), so I
deactivated it and plugged a CMI8738 in a PCI slot.

On the 1st (on-board sound), I've got ALSA mixers in gnome (gnome-volume-control) for both soundcard & philips webcam microphone) and I can have a larsen if I raise the
webcam microphone level.

On the 2nd (CMI8738), I only have OSS mixers in gnome and acting on the webcam
microphone level doesn't do anything.

I can't figure out how to get ALSA in gnome mixer.

Soundcard is loaded before snd-usb-audio, so the problem isn't there.

Any clue will be welcome.

Jean-Yves
