I have been trying for more than 6 months (on and off) to make the
snd-bt87x module work with an ATI TV Wonder pro on my
knoppmyth system. I have tried many things to make this work including
editing /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and /etc/asound.conf. I have also
tried other distro's as well including Debian Sarge, Ubuntu and Fedora
with no luck. I did have it all working over a year ago on a Gentoo
system so I know it should work. In some cases (Ubuntu) I only get
/dev/dsp and /dev/dsp1 (which is very odd because I have 2 sound cards
plus the bt878) and in other cases I get all the /dev/dsp('s) but
snd-bt87x does not attach to any of them. I think there is a larger
problem though. DMESG reports that a BT878 audio capture device gets
loaded but cat /proc/asound/cards does not show the BT878 audio device.
Any help, info, ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated. I am wits end with this thing.
P.S. I am not in front of the machine in question so this post is
rather lite on specific details but I would be happy to post any
additional info to help pin point the trouble.
