More info on the problem: it doesn't matter whether I'm logged in to KDE or just to a character-mode shell. I tried running KMix and turning up all the ouputs without success. I then ran aumix and turned up the outputs, also to no success. While a CD is playing I can playback an ogg with Noatun, and the ogg plays back just fine. aadebug now produces this: ALSA Audio Debug v0.0.7 - Thu Mar 25 21:18:17 PST 2004 http://alsa.opensrc.org/?aadebug Kernel ---------------------------------------------------- Linux lando 2.6.3-1-686 #2 Tue Feb 24 20:24:38 EST 2004 i686 GNU/Linux Loaded Modules -------------------------------------------- snd_intel8x0 34376 1 snd_ac97_codec 63492 1 snd_intel8x0 snd_pcm 101316 1 snd_intel8x0 snd_timer 25956 1 snd_pcm snd_page_alloc 12228 2 snd_intel8x0,snd_pcm snd_mpu401_uart 7840 1 snd_intel8x0 snd_rawmidi 24928 1 snd_mpu401_uart snd_seq_device 8072 1 snd_rawmidi snd 55428 9 snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm,snd_timer,snd_mpu401_uart,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_device Modules Conf ---------------------------------------------- alias char-major-116 snd alias char-major-14 soundcore options snd major=116 cards_limit=4 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss alias /dev/dsp* snd-pcm-oss alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0 alias snd-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-slot-0 snd-slot-0 Proc Asound ----------------------------------------------- Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.2c (Thu Feb 05 15:41:49 2004 UTC).
