What is a boot cheat code? This is not a game you are playing, but an OS you are installing. What is "hard drive installed within that boot"? Anyway things work so I guess neither of us cares. Alsa mixer does not keep your audio settings. alsactl does Run alsactl store when you have the mixer set up to your liking. Run alsctl restore when you want your settings restored. What is a sound notification? You have to set up kde to eitehr work with alsa or with oss (or oss emulation under alsa).
