I havent used alsa before.  But the alsa docs (in the tarball) says you must 
run snddevices. The docs in the website says you shouldnt run it if your 
kernel has devfs support (I suppose 2.4.22 shiped with Fedora Core 1 comes 
with devfs support), so I dont know if i should run it and see if it produces 
nice working alsa drivers or mess my system and mute until my next reinstall.
The other annoying problem is that still keep getting errors about snd_ctl 
file not found by alsactl or alsamixer.
