Thanks for these thoughts, it is quite possibly the case, but I have also 
tried the USB2 Audigy 2 NX through a USB 1.1 hub and it makes no difference.  
I imagine this uses the 1.1 HCD and iscochronous stuff in that case.

My situation is much improved since I can get either USB audio device working 
now, just not both together.  If any debugging or testing is needed, I'm 
happy to do what I can.
