Maybe more details are in order: Motherboard: MS-6309 (v5.X) ATX Mainboard [MSI 694T Pro] Processor: Pentium III Chipset: VIA VT82C686B chipset (352 BGA) - Manual says: "DirectSound AC97 Audio" My distro is Slack 9.1, kernel 2.4.22 without many modification (I do run Win4Lin; that's the only kernel modifying I've done). It was a standard Slack install, so whatever defaulted for my sound card setup is what I have.
