Hi guys, I have been using alsa for quite a while now, and just recently, in one of the newer version of alsa have I been able to get sound in my rear speakers. However this is not what I am writing to the list for. I cannot for the life of me get sound out of the center speaker without enabling the 'matrix' button on the front speaker.
However this is NOT proper 5.1 channel sound, the center speaker simply copies the front speaker. I have 'Mic As Center/LFE' [on], yet this does not seem to help. I tried to use the 'speaker-test' application but it fails with: ./speaker-test -Dsurround51 -c 6 Playback device is surround51 Stream parameters are 44100Hz, S16_LE, 6 channels Sine wave rate is 440.0000Hz Rate doesn't match (requested 44100Hz, get 0Hz) Setting of hwparams failed: Invalid argument I have no idea what to do to enable this. At the moment I have no sound coming from my sub woofa or center speaker (which sounds downright stupid :P). I'm using SiS SI7012 mixer, with the onboard sound of my gigabyte motherboard.
