I will be very grateful if you send me your sources. It is enough to have the Alsa interface. The remainder will be written in wxWindows. I don't have KDE but it should not affect me too much.
Did you do some investigation how and when to use hw_params and sw_params stuff?

I finally managed ot modify the tutorials from Nagorni and Davis so that they produce sound.
At least on my system. I think chances are not bad that it also will on your system.
The whole thing is a simple kdevelop project and if you want I can send it to you.
