I got it working BUT on Live 5.1... With audigy2 i only got 5.1 analog, and with alsa CVS i got the 5.1 signal but without sound... i have a yamaha external decoder that shows the type of signal, and it registers all the channels with DOLBY DIGITAL but no sound is on the output...
With live 5.1 it works great with the command line you wrote: mplayer -ao alsa9 -ac hwac3 dvd://1 when you use -channels 6 it sends analog data on the digital output... i think is that the noise you hear.
