hi
alsa worked fine for me....with 2.4
i upgraded to 2.6test9 kernel,
alsa worked there, too. but i decided to downgrade again.
after this with old 2.4.21 kernel alsa stopped working for me.
i get the following error.

xmms -p

** WARNING **: SNDCTL_DSP_SETFMT ioctl failed: Invalid argument

** WARNING **: SNDCTL_DSP_SPEED ioctl failed: Invalid argument

or:

artsd
Error while initializing the sound driver:
SNDCTL_DSP_SETFMT failed - Invalid argument

and no sound output happens.

i tried alsa-driver 0.9.8 and 0.9.5.
i use the intel8x0 driver for this card:
00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corp. 82801CA/CAM AC'97 Audio
(rev 02
Subsystem: Sony Corporation: Unknown device 812b
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 9
        I/O ports at 1c00 [size=256]
        I/O ports at 18c0 [size=64]

i have no idea, what changed to my old system, where everything was
fine. when i use the 2.6 kernel again...the sound works.
any ideas?

greetings,
Patrick
