Hi,

I'm sure I'm just confused about this, but I've haven't been able to
find anything I can understand in the documentation addressing my
issue. I have an AD1980 with a Via 8235 on board audio controller on my
Asus A7V8X-X motherboard. The card has a S/PDIF output and three 1/8 in
jacks. I know from talking to another user of this same motherboard
that in Windows you can switch these three jacks between being Mic/
Speaker out/Line in or front/rear/center-LFE. My problem is that I need
them to be mic/speaker/line since I don't have surround speakers on this
computer. I think they are currently the other way around for the
following reason:

When I play sounds with aplay, I get no sound at all no matter which
jack my speakers are plugged into.

When I go into alsamixer, turn the speakers up loud and mute and unmute
different channels, I hear a pop with the speakers plugged into one jack
when I mute/unmute center or lfe, and a pop when I have the speakers
plugged into another jack and mute/unmute the PCM.

Hope this all makes sense, and is enough information for someone to
help.

Thanks,
Todd
