I guess I'm like the semi-official audio/MIDI package developer for Mandrake, and I've been having hell since the 0.9.6 upgrade. If anyone can enlighten me on the following problems, please do.
1. MIDI is dead.
I have three MIDI interfaces: an ens1371, and Evolution USB keyboard, and an M-Audio Quattro. The Evolution and ens1371 both worked with 0.9.2 and still do. The Quattro worked with 0.9.5. None work with 0.9.6. I get a midi0 file in /proc/asound/cardx, but there is zero data transmission, and no entry in aconnect.
I notice that the snd-seq-midi module is missing. Is this intentional? All the other modules load fine (snd-rawmidi, snd-seq-midi-event, snd-usb-audio).
2. Alsactl is not working properly.
All mixer settings default to 0/mute on every alsa restart.
Anyone else have this problem?
This also happens when rebooting into an alsa 0.9.2 kernel, so must be due to alsa-lib or alsa-utils package.
