Anyone gotten AC3 passthrough to the SPDIF output on a YMF754 chip to work?

I tried following ac3dec commands.

$ ac3dec -C test.ac3
Using PCM device 'plug:iec958:{AES0 0x2 AES1 0x82 AES2 0x0 AES3 0x2}'
AC3 Stream 48.0 KHz 448 kbps

$ ac3dec -P test.ac3
Using PCM device 'plug:iec958:{AES0 0x87 AES1 0x0 AES2 0x0 AES3 0x0}'
AC3 Stream 48.0 KHz 448 kbps

$ ac3dec -R test.ac3
5.1 Mode 48.0 KHz 448 kbps English Complete Main Audio Service
Using PCM device 'plug:iec958:{AES0 0x0 AES1 0x82 AES2 0x0 AES3 0x2}'

In all three cases, the attached A/V receiver (Denon AVR-3801) locks on the
SPDIF signal, but does not detect AC3 (Dolby Digital indicator remains off).
In the first two cases, no sound is heard at all. In the third case, sound
is heard, but in the two front channels only. The surround channels audio
content is heard through the front speakers. Also, left and right are
reversed.

I am using a Hoontech Digital XG soundcard, kernel 2.4.21 and alsa 0.9.5.

Thanks, Koef.
