Hello,

I'm trying to get a series of idential sound cards to work in my RedHat 8.0
system and I'm fresh out of ideas at this point. The kernel OSS drivers make
the two cards (based on the c-media or CMIPCI chip) conflict at startup and
only activates the first card loaded (because of a shared resource that returns
as busy to all cards following the first). The manufacturer's drivers are no
help because they do nothing to fix the problem that SNDCONFIG doesn't allow
you to change he memory addresses or pci/dma or whatever settings.

I'd like to try the ALSA solution but previous attempts to install ALSA have
resulted in a lot of headaches. In the last attempt made, I got to the point
where I was supposed to insert the modules with "modprobe" but that command
failed in every attempt I tried.

I really need someone to give me some advice or a step by step approach to
fixing this problem. No matter where I turn, nobody seems able to help me get
these two cards working.

Thanks in adavnce.
